Tenotomy in clubfoot treatment

Clubfoot or CTEV  can be corrected easily with serial plaster technique. Treatment of Clubfoot should be started as early as possible from first week of life (first day of life).

Treatment of Clubfoot includes serial plaster cast (Ponseti technique) 3-5 plasters on weekly intervals followed by tenotomy if required.

Tenotomy is now a integral part of Ponseti technique of Clubfoot treatment but not required in all cases(15-20 percent) Many children are treated with serial casting only.
Tenotomy is very minor procedure done under local anaesthesia with no side effects. The tendon that we cut in Tenotomy regenerate by itself completely without affecting leg strength and movements.
